Mapping Wikipedia

Mapping Wikipedia is a visualisation of the world mapped according to articles in 7 different languages. The map displays both the global patterns and the vast number of geo-located items. The visualization was developed by TraceMedia using an analysis of Wikipedia by the Oxford Internet Institute.

As a result, the map shows the global distribution of articles written in each language. One can also explore some quantitative parameters that can be associated with a typical Wikipedia article, such as word count, number of authors, number of images, and so on.
